Welcome to the South Easy
I figure there’s a lot of hip-hop fans at the moment digging in their archives for solace or inspiration. As Brighton’s own Fidel Cutstro comments in the notes for this freshly uploaded slice of dystopian beauty from 2007, “all the lyrics still unfortunately ring true today.”
Ain’t it true. Some of it is brutally timeless, the lines about power and corruption and religion, but then towards the end there’s one that jumps out because it’s so specific you can’t help but feel it in the gut, “other countries watching Americans kill each other with a Coke and a big bag of popcorn”.
Shit.
All proceeds go to the Grassroots Law Project and their fight to radically transform policing in the USA.
