Big Toast ft/ Jack Diggs, DatKid, Strange Neighbour, BadHabitz – F#@$ Off Tarquin
Big Toast’s new single ‘Fuck Off Tarquin‘ addresses the problems of gentrification in London with all the subtlety you’d expect from someone who called his album Work Is Soul Rape. It’s a great single. I can’t be too enthusiastic about it cos I might offend someone who’ll pay me to write for them somewhere down the line but it’s nice to have Toast and his mates venting on our behalf. Not that I agree with everything that’s said, there’s at least three moments here where they come over as nothing more than obnoxious twats. The queerbait, the hate on anyone with a side parting. With a main point this urgent it seems a bit dumb arguing over the details, though. Especially when there’s a definite risk it would mark me out as a Tarquin.
