Yelawolf – Way Out [@Yelawolf]

February 24, 2013

Yelawolf

When I first heard Yelawolf, it was on I Wish, the track off Trunk Muzik that featured Raekwon from Wu Tang, and it was a breath of fresh air. This self styled redneck from Alabama had something a little different – enough to pique my interest anyway. The combination of the southern drawl and the high speed delivery somehow worked, even though maybe it shouldn’t – but maybe its a sign of the transient nature of the title next big thing, as I’m finding it hard to stay enthusiastic about recent releases. Sure, this new track isn’t that bad, but the vibe about it could be any rapper on a label with a bit of money behind them. I’ll check for the new project, no doubt, but whether I’ll find anything that gets me hype as that first hearing, unfortunately I’m doubting. Prove me wrong please.

2011 BET Cypher: Yelawolf x Slaughterhouse x Eminem

October 13, 2011

You know a cypher is a good one when you can’t decide which emcee killed it hardest. This one is truly massive.

You about to see peace destroyed / It’ll never be restored / When I unleash these beastly hordes on your CD stores / You wanna stop it you’re gonna need a priest, about three swords, a licence to ill from the Beastie Boys, three ouija boards and a squeegee / and please be warned, don’t ask what the squeegee’s for / or the holy water – acid rap that’ll eat these floors….

Yelawolf (@Yelawolf) – Round & Round (Rhyme Room Episode 2) [VIDEO]

October 7, 2010

I was just about to hit the sack when I stumbled across this little gem. Thank goodness for the wonders of twitter. I don’t think there’s anyone out there at the moment that can touch Yela at double time rhyming aside from Tonedeff and Orifice Vulgatron. This is a little bit out there, but I love it.

Can’t wait for Yelawolf’s Trunk Musik 0-60 LP to drop next month. All signs are pointing to it being rather dope. Here’s the video for I Just Wanna Party – not my favourite track of his by any means. And Gucci drops one of the most random lines ever when he says he’s “Drunk like Paul McCartney” – I wasn’t aware that Sir Paul was famous for getting on the sauce.

Yelawolf exploded onto the scene last year with his high speed delivery and Alabama drawl, and he jumps up on one of Big Boi’s tracks off his Sir Lucious Left Foot LP. Nice.

Yelawolf – Rhyme Room Episode 1 [VIDEO]

August 20, 2010

Alabama’s Yelawolf is one of the artists thats popped up in this last 365 who I’ve been impressed with the most. This short clip is a pretty good example of why that is. Some sick bars. Looking forward to his next release as I’m still bumping Trunk Musik real hard.

Live It – Paul Wall (@PaulWallBaby) ft/ Yelawolf (@Yelawolf), Raekwon (@RaekwonIceWater) & Jay Electronica (@JayElectronica) (Produced by Travis Barker (@TravisBarker))

This tune is NICE. Taken from Paul Wall’s Heart of a Champion LP which is apparently out next week. I really like this. Chilled out track, Chef and Jay Elec spitting some deepness, and Yela handling the hook with ease. Real nice. This is getting played on the radio on Tuesday, for sure.
