Big ups to my man Kormac for getting me out to Dublin again. Always have a great time when I’m out there, and New Years Eve was no different. Tripod was rammed, and the crowd were loving the band. Needless to say, the night got a little messy, and I don’t think I’d had much sleep by the time I’d sat down on the plane back to Gatwick the following evening. Insane.

Saturday Morning TV – DJ Kormac ft/ Koaste [VIDEO]
June 12, 2010Here’s some visuals for the track I wrote for Dublin’s DJ Kormac, which VJ Q The Monkey has kindly put together. I’m off to Glastonbury in a few weeks with Kormac, so if you’re gonna be at the festival, come down and support – should be a lively session! Anyway, the track is all about those childhood TV memories. Enjoy!

DJ Kormac – Word Play LP
May 12, 2010About half a year ago, while I was living over in Sydney on the other side of the world, I received a message on myspace. I put down my cold bottle of Coopers Green and opened it. It was from a guy called Kormac, asking me to write a track for his forthcoming LP. I hadn’t heard of him, so I’m probably right in admitting that I didn’t give it my full attention in the beginning, but I agreed to write the track.
Fast forward to right now. I’m back in Brighton in the sunny UK, and Kormac’s LP Word Play has hit the shelves. I was over in Dublin a couple of weeks ago to perform the track I wrote for the album at the launch parties, which was the first time in donkey’s years I’ve done live shit with a band, but the bunch of lads that Kormac has assembled can definitely rock a track. Its a slightly bizzarre sight, with double bass, banjo, trumpet, deejay and barbershop quartet, but somehow… it works!
Kormac’s style to me is slightly reminiscent of RJD2 or Black Grass, and Word Play is filled with uptempo, bouncy tracks, littered with samples from what sound like old public information adverts, or 1930′s films. He’s joined on Kormac’s Scratch Party by DJ Yoda & DJ Cheeba for a little turntable wizardry, by MC Little Tree on the ska-infused People Rising, and by Messiah J & The Expert on the excellent The Party Must Continue.
Kormac and the Big Big Band will be performing at Glastonbury 2010 in June, so if you’ve got your tickets for that west country mud-fest, then make sure you don’t miss out.
Word Play by DJ Kormac is now available on iTunes – for more information head to www.djkormac.com
Oh, and if you’re wondering… this is the track I recorded. Saturday Morning TV. Enjoy.
