When this got sent through to me, I almost deleted it after looking at the screen shot. A moody black and white shot of a well heeled slick styled kid. This was nothing for the site. He had to be a singer for some indy band surely? Well turns out I was wrong. Since the email came from a press person I’ve had a few good things from, I thought I’d trust her and give Mr Brewer here a listen. And this jazzy introspective track is pretty good. I couldn’t spot where it was filmed that does the 2 for 1 cocktails every thursday from 10 till 2am though dammnit! • Koaste
Another track I’ve come across in the various submissions I’ve been sent through. Seriously, most stuff I get is second rate trap music, but this grabbed my attention through both the sound, and the stylish video. Produced by Balau. Enjoy. • Koaste
Finding some good music in this pile of emails I’m going through today. Our second Unknown Element post of the day goes to 17 year old London born Bristol based emcee Reps Reppatwa. Kids got potential. You can download his new 5 track EP HERE. • Koaste
Don’t be fooled by the artwork, this track from this week’s Unknown Element, Arsenal Hendrix is really pretty good. He’s got one of those voices that just catches the ear. Reminds me a little of a slightly more up tempo Vast Aire from Cannibal Ox. There’s some energy there which is so sadly lacking in a lot of rappers these days. More please. • Koaste
Just got this sent through this evening. I like it. Understated wisdom from Random P. Who I’ve never heard of. He’s got a new EP Butterfly Kid coming soon. I’ll probably like that too. You should watch it. Produced by Shift Key. • Koaste
Found this in my inbox the other day, and finally got round to giving it a listen this evening. I’d be lying if I said I’d heard of either of these two Philadelphia emcees, but this eight track release left me pleasantly surprised. Maybe its the 80′s child in me that was particularly taken with the He-Man samples, as these two seem to have based the project around Prince Adam’s mortal enemy, Skeletor. Well worth a go. • Koaste
I just came across this in the 273 inbox which I’ve been giving a good clear out now I’m back from sunning it up in Turkey. I think its pretty good, so I thought I’d share it with you lot. Don’t know anything about this kid though, but if I find anything out I’ll let you know. • Koaste
Yo yo.. Just linked with the homie DJ Ideal for a few swift Peronis in town, and I haven’t eaten, so hopefully my ability to judge a track isn’t impaired, but I just got this track though via the 273 hotline, and I think its pretty good. I’d ignored it for a few days, as I’d never heard of Quake Matthews, so it went in the pile marked probably no good. On the contrary, I think that while not being incredible, its at the least a well put together piece, and I might be quicker to check anything marked with the same name in the future. • Koaste
Always good to stumble across a new female that can actually rap without having to go the Minaj/Lil’ Kim route. Spotted Gavlyn on Nova Rockafeller’s twitter feed, and she’s good. Don’t know where she’s from, but I like what she does. You can check out more music on her bandcamp page HERE. • Koaste
An entertaining video here which popped up in my in tray this afternoon. I don’t know anything about ESH the Monolith, and can’t claim to have ever heard the name before, but send me a video with half naked tattooed chicks in the bath and you’re half way to getting it posted. The track ain’t bad either. Produced by DOX. • Koaste
