One For Ya Wednesday #6: Blade – Forward
September 1, 2010Good old Blade. He may have turfed out one or two sketchy numbers towards the end of his rhyming days but he’ll always have this: Packing a punch like big Frank before he went barmy, this tune sits comfortably amongst (or in my opinion, above) breakneck bangers from the likes of Gunshot, Silver Bullet, Hardnoise and Unanimous Decision. It’s even got Westwood on the intro (before he turned into a sickening parody of himself). Rightly described by my mum as ‘bloody noise’ (she missed the opportunity to prefix her review with ‘a quite delightful…’), this became the theme tune for many a miserable rain-soaked paper-round in the early 90s and remains a fixture in my record box to unleash on an unsuspecting dance-floor. (not suitable for weddings. trust me…)

One For Ya Wednedsay #3: Fed Up Remix – House of Pain ft/ Guru [VIDEO]
June 30, 2010Taking you back with one of the tracks off of House of Pain’s much maligned third LP Truth Crushed To The Earth Shall Rise Again. Not exactly one of the catchiest titles they came up with there, was it. I don’t think it was a terrible LP, but I’m struggling to think of many of the tracks other than this one that were on it. There was Heart Filled With Sorrow featuring Sadat X, and… er… oh well.
Anyway, I always liked the way on this track that Everlast starts his verses with Guru lyrics, and Guru starts all his with Everlast ones. I thought it was a nice touch. Anyway, if you don’t know this track, have a listen – and if you do, give it another blast. RIP Guru.

One For Ya Wednesday #2 – Kanye / Zach Galifianakis (Can’t Tell Me Nothing)
June 8, 2010This has to be one of my favourite videos of all time, purely for the bizarreness of seeing Zach Galifianakis (of The Hangover fame) lip synching to Yeezy’s track. Its a great track on its own, but its made even better when the video has it set in the corn fields of middle America. Seriously, if you know the track, but haven’t seen this video, then take the time out to watch it again… Amazing.

May 19, 2010There’s no particular reason I’m posting this video, other than I spotted my man Tan had upped it on wastebook, and it reminded me what a sick video it is. Laced with that trademark Preemo sound, Rock Stars is a banger from back before Goretex was kicked out the crew for drugs/being a lazy bastard/not being as waterproof as his name suggests during a wild thunderstorm in which Ill Bill copped a damp patch on his ‘Lo hoodie. Play this loud right now.
