Marvin Gaye – Ain’t That Peculiar (Oddisee Remix) [@Oddisee]

May 10, 2012

Something a little bit different for this morning, as Oddisee gives a new twist to the late great Marvin Gaye’s Ain’t That Peculiar. I think it works pretty well. The new album (from Oddisee, not Marvin), People Hear What They See dropping next month.

Tom Caruana (@TomCaruana) presents: Black Gold: Wu-Tang vs Jimi Hendrix [FREE DL]

August 1, 2011

You might need to get your skates on and click the DL link before you’ve even read what I have to say about this one, because I’m sure the legal vultures are circling like they did for TC’s last Wu-Tang vs Beatles project. Do it now…

Download Tom Caruana presents: Black Gold: Wu-Tang vs Jimi Hendrix NOW.

Free downloads have now ceased. You can buy a copy of the mixtape from here now:

…right. Now you’ve done that, I can say a little bit about what you’re currently downloading. Wu accapellas over banging Tom Caruana beats sampling the legendary Jimi Hendrix. The Wu were so impressed with Caruana’s last offering that they even threw him a couple of exclusive verses from ODB’s son, Young Dirty Bastard, and Wu affiliate, Gab Gotcha.

Tom Caruana is a beat making machine. I once asked him for a couple of new beats and he sent me a download link to over three hundred. Knowing him, he would have gone through every Hendrix track ever made to find the finest loops and samples. I’d expect nothing less. But like I say, grab this now, as there’s no guarantee this will be about tomorrow.

184 – Never Ending Posse Cut ft Skuff, Koaste, Dr Syntax, Sonnyjim, Rup the Cnut & Stig of the Dump (Kashmere RMX) [FREE DL]

April 24, 2011

This is a little something something that the homie 184 has had as a work in progress for a while now. A posse cut, started off one drunken night in 2004, and constantly added to over time, depending on who had rolled through Illwood. Now the Iguanaman himself, Kashmere has got his hands on it and this is the result. Of course, being a never ending posse cut, there will probably be new versions of this in the future. Till then, grab this April 2011 version. You can hear the original 184 version HERE.

After the success of my good man Tom Caruana’s Wu Tang and Beatles mash up, Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers, which got him press in The Guardian and The New York Times amongst others, he’s decided its time to release his next project. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Erykah Badu and more get the TC treatment, this time remixed with a little Bollywood flavour. As with the majority of TC projects, this is available for FREE DOWNLOAD over at the Tea Sea Records website.

Ruff Snippits – Stealing Words Vol. 1 [FREE DL]

February 16, 2011

I’m always a sucker for a good remix, and the man like Ruff Snippits has just sent through his latest collection, featuring remixes of artists from Erykah Badu to Jeru The Damaja, and its well worth checking out. Did I mention that its free? Ah yeah, it says that up there. Well as an added bonus, down there is a three deck mix by Snippits and Headnod, the lads responsible for the last Rarekind Records podcast. I’m spoiling you right now. You deserve it.

Mr Dero & Klumzy Tung – Headscrews (DJ Vadim RMX)

December 3, 2010

DJ Vadim adds that bounce to this track, of which I’ve never heard the original. Its nice enough though. As for who Mr Dero and Klumzy Tung are – I haven’t got a clue. I’m sure someone out there can fill me in.
