DJ Muggs (@DJ_Muggs) vs Ill Bill (@IllBill1972) ft/ B-Real & Vinnie Paz – Kill Devil Hills [VIDEO]

August 31, 2010

Here’s the second video from Muggs and Bill taken from their Kill Devil Hills LP which is out now I do believe. You know what to expect from these two. A stomping sinister beat from Muggs, and that conspiracy shish from Bill and the two guests, Cypress Hill’s B-Real, and Jedi Mind Tricks’ Vinnie Paz.

Is This The Worst Hip Hop Track Ever Made? Discuss.

August 31, 2010

Today has really got it in for me. I’d only just got over this afternoon’s realisation that I’d be without Sky Sports News for today’s transfer deadline, and then I had the severe misfortune to listen to this abomination from pre-pubescent-whiny-voiced-obviously-gonna-be-into-crack-before-he’s-twentyfive Justin Bieber. Now, Bieber would never normally in a million years get a mention here on the 273, only on this track, he’s managed to rope in Raekwon and Kanye West. Now Kanye… Kanye I could have seen doing this beforehand, but The Chef? Get the fuck out of here. But its true.

And these were just the thoughts that were flying through my head as I clicked through the links. I hadn’t actually heard the song yet. And that, my friends, is where things got really bad. For its not just ‘Ye and Rae on any track with Scrawny-armed-midget-stream-of-dayglo-piss Bieber. Its them on a track sampling Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin’ To Fuck Wit’. And that says it all. You probably don’t even need to listen to this to gain a whole new level of hate. I’m going to put the song below anyway. If you were here with me in person, I’d probably make you sign a disclaimer before I’d let you listen. But for now, its on your head.

If you can think of a Hip-Hop track that is worse than this one. And I use the term Hip-Hop very loosely in this case, then drop a comment on it.

273 Fantasy Football: Week Three

August 30, 2010

Oh word? We’ve got a championship going on after all! The three highest scoring managers this week are all from outside the top three. The third highest scoring team this week was Ollie from Barenoize, racking up a respectable 56pts (Top scoring player: Dimitar Berbatov – 16pts*); Second highest scorers this week were Herbie Dragons’ Bucka Juniors with 68pts (Didier Drogba – 18pts*), but taking the Manager of the Week award this week is the homie Truth and his team, Gats McGhee with 69pts, helped by a great 20pts* from Wayne Rooney, who finally got off the mark in the scoring charts for Manchester Utd this weekend.

The top three in the table all scored around 50pts each, so no change in position there, Illwood Kings maintain a 27pt lead at the top of the table from Ewan Rarekind and DJ Kormac.

At the other end of the table, Clev Cleverly climbs off the bottom, sending Snuff The Ablist back to the base. A change in fortunes for one or two of the teams down the reverse end could change things dramatically though, so its not exactly panic stations just yet.

DJ Cheeba (@DJCheeba) – Witness Team GB [Mash-Up]

August 29, 2010

A little visual treat to get things back on track after the weekend’s festivities from my man DJ Cheeba of Solid Steel. A nice little mash up with elements from Roots Manuva’s Witness, the Beastie Boys’ Whatcha Want, Tipper’s Learning is Remembering and Black Sheep’s The Choice is Yours. If you haven’t seen Cheeba’s live show, crazy visuals play a major part, so if he’s playing in a town or festival near you, make sure you check the homie out.

Rain Stops Play #1

August 29, 2010

Well, this I think is the first time since we started where we haven’t managed to post at least something in 24 little hours. Sorry about that. My excuse is that I’ve been up somewhere near Leicester at the Shambala festival performing with DJ Kormac, and after having had no sleep, waiting at a cold, closed, Market Harborough station for 2 hours from 4am till 6am when my train was due, had to then go to work in the bar till, well, about now.

The festival was a right good laugh though. I’d never heard of this festival, and it was my first proper muddy festival. I can confidently say that grey Timberlands were not the best choice, and I might well invest in a pair of wellingtons if another festival comes along soon. But fuck it, the set with Kormac and the band went down pretty well, and ended up hyping in the Kamikaze tent for Ex-Black Grass’ Carl Faure’s Warrior One crew – even though I had no idea what UK Funky and J-Step were as far as genres of music go.

Anyway, it was a great laugh. I’m off to Denmark this Friday with one half of Barenoize where I’m hyping for a gig on a boat. Should be an interesting few days. Anyway, I promise to be back on the posting-things-of-interest tip tomorrow, so stay tuned.

One love

Dr Syntax (@StigAndSyntax) – Hire Me [VIDEO]

August 27, 2010

Ohhhh… SNAP! There’s nothing more pleasing then when you see one of your talented mates get the dope video he/she deserves. In this case, its Dr Syntax aka Benny Huge who’s dropped this sick video for his new single Hire Me. I’m slightly biased, as you can guess, having recorded a few tracks with him in the past, but mad shouts go out to him for getting this effort together. I’m pretty sure a lot of people in the UK will be able to relate to this one. Since Subcultures, Syn Diesel has been able to effortlessly connect with Joe Bloggs out there and be someone people can easily empathise with. As someone that repped the 273 in a big way when he lived down here before he moved up to Manchester, I really hope this video gets Synners some serious hits and propels him into a position he’s deserved for a long time. ‘Tax Money – SALUTE.

Foreign Beggars (@ForeignBeggars) – Contact – LIVE @ Hip Hop Kemp 2010

August 26, 2010

Here’s yet another visual reason why I was stupid not to go to Hip Hop Kemp this year. Beggar Fam smashing their way through their Noisia produced banger Contact. Massive.
